Transformer shopping

Ben has accomplished his goal of sleeping in his bed, ALL night, for 3 consecutive nights!! I'm proud and he's psyched because now he gets a transformer so we head to Target first thing this morning and he picks out the speedboat, which surprises me because he's been talking about the tank. As long as he's happy...now onto our next goal - 5 nights! Not sure what's going on with his top lip here?? he does have one.
Brinley got her head stuck in the chair the other day so she cries out for help and what do I do? Laugh & grab my camera!

Rain, rain go away...

It has been cloudy and raining all week long and it's starting to bring me down. It shows no signs of letting up so our Saturday at Turner Falls has been postponed : ( and there's nothing for the kids to see at the movies so I'm just not sure what we're going to do all weekend. Relax? haha, I think I've forgotten how to have lazy weekend! I'll probably do a little sewing, maybe bake something new? and try to keep the kiddos entertained until the rain goes away.

9/11

Everyone remembers where they were and what they were doing when those planes crashed into the World Trade Center seven years ago today.

I was waiting for my apartment gate to open so I could proceed to work, still a giddy newlywed because I had only been back from my honeymoon 4 days. That's when I heard Kid Kraddik announce the first plane had crashed into a tower and at this point it was believed to be an accident. Soon after we began to realize it was no accident and fear struck, even way down south in Texas. Where would they strike next? Would my husband be going away to war? Would there be a war here, on American soil? These are the things that scared me the most.

I believe we invaded the Middle East with the most honorable intentions. And no matter what your opinion on the war you have to be thankful there are people, like my brother in law, and many, many more men & women - who are strangers to us - that are willing to fight to protect our freedom. I know I am.

So, here I am 7 years later, with so many experiences behind me...none of which resemble living in a war torn country but just a few minor adjustments like going through stricter security at the airport....and I still feel so blessed and proud to be American.

Potty Time

I'm happy to say Brinley is completely potty trained! In honor of that, I'll share a story...
Today she's on the potty (going #2) so I sit on the tub and wait because she'll need my help to wipe and she says "Can you leave me privacy?" so I oblige and leave but sit outside the door. There is a frog puppet/washcloth hanging near the potty and this is what I hear...

(Brinley speaks as herself and as the frog)

"Hi Ribbit"

"I'm not ribbit, I'm Brinley"

"oh, hi Brinley. Nice to meet you"

"why you so crooked?"

"I'm not crooked, I'm hanging upside down"

then inaudible whispers...

"oh, come on poopoo, come out"

So I quickly grab a pen & paper and write this down because I'm cracking up and can't wait to share it : )

School update

Every day gets better and although Ben will still say he would rather stay home, he goes to school without a fit, even today after I had to wake him to go (he went to sleep after karate/gym) he did not cry (but I felt soo guilty). So it looks like the resistance has ended!

shocked

Right now it's 7:19 and BOTH my kids are still asleep in THEIR beds where they have been all night. My house is silent except for the sound of my keyboard...it's so weird...I'm in shock! Shhh...

I did it!

I finished my pillowcase dress up this morning and luckily had a willing little model nearby...I think it turned out well! I didn't have a pattern to go by so I'll make just a couple of adjustments on the next one.
I haven't evened the ribbons yet - she doesn't want to take it off. You may think the pattern is a little much, but it's bright & fun and she loves cats. Rear view - looks the same of course.
Ideas, suggestion, tips, comments...all welcome.

School update

Well, today wasn't as bad as Friday but not without some drama. Ben seemed okay up until time to leave then he hid from me (under the bed, that was fun). When we did get to the school he didn't want to get out and was hanging onto the handle by the car door. I got him out and gave him to the teacher's assistant and his teacher came out to meet him and tell him all the fun stuff they were doing today...so I drove away and he was calm but was still being held. But he had a good day in class again- no tears! Tomorrow should be even better.
