A funny thing happened at the park today - Ben spotted the ground moving!
It seriously was like something out of a cartoon, ya know the ones with a gopher tunneling under ground? But our friend never made an appearance and it fueled the kids' imaginations...they love a good mystery.
Not long after Brin informed me she saw the ground moving again and this time she saw the animal - it had black arms & legs and a red belly just like her imaginary cat. Go figure!
Ben then came over to report Brinley's claim of the ground moving again. I confided in him "yeah, she also said it was her imaginary cat..." and with a completely straight face he said "well, then mystery solved!"
So, next time you are at the park...beware of that tunneling black & red cat!

Picnik fun
I've heard about Picnik from a couple of different people, so I thought I would test it to see if I could turn this photo....

Back to school!
The kids started school on Thursday...it's gonna be a crazy year because despite being only a grade apart, they are in 2 different schools!
So every afternoon I drive twice to each school - once for drop off & 2 hrs later for pick up.
Yes, this is my request for prayers :)
Ben, finally in kindergarten!
He was nervous and didn't know anyone but thought it was cool that they have a guinea pig in their classroom....no, it will not be coming home with him.

Brinley started Pre-K, her very first year of school ever!
There were no tears, only excitement. She has already brought home 5 paintings!
Happy Back to School, everyone!

End of summer fun
Let's be honest, it's been a pretty boring summer around here.
So we decided to go out with a bang!
We headed to Texas for a birthday party, which was a blast.
As usual, the Lokey cousins always have a good time!

Once we were back in Oklahoma, some friends invited us to the zoo.
OKC Zoo has this great event called "Wayback Wednesday" with $1 admission & hot dogs AND even better, we had a "cold snap" with a low of 72 degrees so it was a gorgeous morning as we headed out :)
It was our first time there since they opened the New Children's Zoo and that is pretty much where we stayed. They worked up an appetite building a dam, climbing and checking out the barnyard - where Bo even pet a goat!!
We spent an abnormal amount of time looking at koi & turtles.
I think the most exotic animal we saw was a tropical cockroach.
Okay, all together...EEWWW.
But it was a good day!

Science Museum Mayhem
I don't know how many of you have been to the OKC Museum of Science, but it's pretty great. And outside it's pretty miserable so we opted for the museum.
My kids wouldn't go near the Robot :(
Bo discovered (as I was trying to get a picture) that he fits perfectly between the between the bars. Yes, a chase soon pursued.
He also lead me up to the highest point in the museum, at the top of the tree house, then back down the nation's tallest spiral slide!
We really ought to get a membership here.
