Stonebridge Ranch Triathlon

We were in Texas for Bryce's last(?) triathlon of the season.
It was another open water swim, chillier than last month's but still a beautiful fall morning!
I thought I would spare you the picture of hundreds of white caps bobbing in the water...
and go with this one Ben insisted I take of him. Bo chillin' and waiting on Daddy to run by.

Ringing their new cowbells with Nece -
Yay, glad we spotted the sponsor giving those away.

The gang
(minus Pawpaw...some body's gotta take the picture).I vote next time we kick Brinley out and let pawpaw in ;-)

Starting the run...

And presto! chango!
Finishing the run in a red shirt!
We almost missed him coming in!
Actually, Pawpaw did - LOL.
So proud of him!
It was the State Championship with over 1,200 competitors and he placed 50th overall,
7th in his age bracket!

I can't believe my slo-mo camera caught this!
And I swear, at the time, it didn't seem so scary.

OK State Fair

We got an impromptu invite from friends to go to the state fair last night and it was such a beautiful evening that we couldn't pass it up!

We quickly ate our way down to the kiddie koral, even Bowen... trying out his first pizza on a stick!

The girls sliding with their dads.
(Brinley is the one looking like an Eskimo)

Well someone in the bear was having fun, lol.

May the force be with you.

How 'bout that Cowboys Stadium?

Here she is...
you can see the grand opening of the roof and "doors" in the background. As a surprise for my sister's birthday, I thought it would be really cool to take her to the Inaugural home game of the Cowboys (she's a huge Witten fan). And it so happened to be Ben's first Cowboys game too!!

Well, not sure if you know how much tickets are but...umm, let's just say Jerry will have this stadium paid for pretty soon, lol. So I opted for the "party passes" which are general admission for the party decks, 3 levels...which you can see below - from the Dr. Pepper (gotta love a stadium with a giant DP sign!) down to my sisters. This place is huge!!
Unfortunately, Jerry oversold these passes and we had some trouble getting into the stadium (grrr, fun suprise, huh?)...I heard that he has now reduced the number of party passes drastically- good idea!

But my son (and my sister) wanted to see so I went into mama bear mode and fought my way to the front of the crowd (AND put Ben on my shoulders) so we could watch.
This was our best view of the field...
watching the DC Cheerleaders perform.
It was star studded, with President George W. Bush and Mrs. Bush tossing the coin and Cowboys greats like my faves Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith, and Michael Irvin there!

Then we found a place to sit and screen to watch so we could chow down...what, you didn't think I was gonna hold him on my shoulders the whole time did ya? LOL
When I asked Ben what his favorite part was he said "the food"...

and "the big screen".
It really is compelling and no matter what's happening on the field you still find yourself watching the huge, unavoidable screen!

The view looking down on the first party deck - packed full but it also empties out onto the lawn with more big screens. There are screens everywhere so you will not miss the game. I also like how "open" it is.
Ben was ready to go by halftime (one reason a party pass is good) but not before getting an inflatable helmet!
He was walking around like a celebrity...people taking his picture, shaking his hand, giving him high fives....so funny.

Should I mention the Cowboys lost?
Nah, he didn't notice.

Brinley's Soccer Debut

First, let me tell you - 3 yr old soccer is NOT like 4 yr old soccer.
There is drama.
Her debut was a little delayed because she wouldn't play the entire first half.
Instead she stood on the sidelines wanting Daddy's attention...but see that little boy to the right of her? He wouldn't play either! (along with a 3rd player)
And tears over other players "stealing" the ball - LOL. When she did decide to join in, she did great: knew which direction to go, seemed to have fun - even scored her first goal!

BTW - yes, that's the smallest jersey they have and yes, she had a jacket (that she refused to wear, of course)

The cheering squad, keeping somewhat dry.

Bowen ~ 7 months

He snagged this little pumpkin pie right outta my hand last night!!
Unfortunately he seems to only want food he can't have.
He's making his way around pretty well these days.

Today with his bear.

Here's what happening with our 7 month old:

  • crawls
  • pulls up
  • coos, babbles
  • has 2 bottom teeth
  • sits upright, unassisted
  • wears about size 12 months, sometimes 18 mos and size 3 diapers!
  • doesn't care much for baby food (but wants to grab anything we're eating.)
  • still nurses all night...that will come to an end soon when he moves to his own room.

He's momma's little boy and I love it!

The better to see you with, my dear...

We paid a visit to the pediatric opthalmologist this week.

Ben, at his check up, was saying some things on the eye chart look like "dots"...hmm, now we know he was just being goofy.
Happy to report his vision is 20/20!!

Although he was really frustrated that he couldn't see after being dilated...
on the bright side he got these cool sunglasses!

Let the games begin!

Soccer & football season have begun and it's going to be a busy fall!

Brinley had her first practice last night -
she is one of 2 girls on the teams and of course, the smallest player. She posed all by herself.
(her tshirt reads "It's a girl's world, boys just live here"- love it)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ben had his first football game this morning.
Pre-game "pep talk",
And hug.
Hustling down the field.
Again, we have the smallest player on the team but that's okay since it's kinda a "bonus year" since all his teammates are in kindergarten & first grade.
Poor little Bo...unfortunately we'll prob have lots of games during morning nap time
:(
But notice how well he's sitting up?
fyi - that creepy little arm is Brinley's
Question of the day
Brinley said "you are the best mommy in the world"
(hold your sentimental tears, I had just given her a brownie)
...hugs are exchanged, followed by
"but sometimes you put us in time out...um, why do you do that again?"
hmmm, I wonder.
