Nece Moment

Not that Nece would ever do this, but she will appreciate my humiliation, plus it's kinda her fault for buying me such a short nightgown! Of course she didn't advise me to wear it outside to take out the trash...
The scene: Yesterday, it's almost 8 in the morning (of course I'm in my nightgown, I don't go to work!) and I'm making oatmeal and hear it...the trash truck! Trash day and they keep coming earlier and earlier - ugh!
"Trash Day" I yell and run to bag up the diapers. I pause and think it's cool, maybe I should get my robe...no, I'll be real quick. I slip my flips on (as Ben yells "wait for me" and puts his undies on) and head out (no time to wait), open the garage door and start wheeling it out of the garage and right by my house are Chad? and Nikki our young, nice chiropractor neighbors who always walk their labs and new baby. OMG!
"Hi" he says.
I freeze, "crap" I mutter standing there in jammies that barely cover my bum but I throw up a wave with a smile. I immediately turn and go inside leaving my trash can in the driveway.
I return a minute later, baby on hip(for sympathy?), to take it to the curb.
I wish I could say it's the first time but sadly it's just the first time I've been caught.
I will not do it again, Nece, I have learned my lesson.

The cheapest copay

Last night we went to a "pizza party" which a drug rep put on for the residents to promote their line of insulin products. Families are welcome so we all go and are sitting eating pizza when the rep interrupts everyone and says he has to "pay the bill" and does a short bit about the insulin pens, importance of being informed, blah, blah, blah and how their company makes sure their insulin is available statewide, blah, blah and they also have the cheapest copays in the state. The rep then asks if anyone has any questions and my son raises his hand then leans into his dad and asks (like wow) "the cheapest copays?"

The weekend

I guess I'm more a weekday blogger - the weekends are so busy with the boat show, babysitting, playing at the park, bowling, and even a evening ride to Mustang Island. Oh, and cooking. I gotta admit I did more cooking yesterday than I have done on a long time. Lunch was meatloaf, corn on the cob, ranch style beans, green beans, and rolls (and my kids ate a little of everything -yeah!) then I baked zucchini cookies (which they also had their share of) and for dinner we had fajitas with rice and beans. Thanks goodness a cool rain came because my kitchen was hot! (no a/c still) My goal this week is to look into a windshield replacement since a rock cracked it Friday, ugh! and it needs a good wash. When your 2 year tells you "ooh, mommy, wash you poopie" because there is a giant bird poo on her passenger door then you know it's time. Immediate task...laundry & dishes, of course.

Standoff - Day 8

Neither one of us has given in and the mess remains.

Married to Jared

Mommy story--There's a giant stand up Jared at the subway by our house (and probably at a subway near you, too). Well, one day the kids and I go in and they say "hey, it's daddy", and "hi, daddy". They do both wear glasses and dress pants but other than that?? I was thinking poor kids really miss their dad since he's working a lot. We went back in and this time Jared had a big crease in his head (maybe he fell over?) and my son said "oh, daddy's head got hurt" LOL

Earth day guilt

Hey, I'm all for going green but I can't change all my habits at once. I'm a work in progress. For instance I have shopping bags but I always forget to bring them in with me and end up using plastic. Which I reuse at home for my small trash can bags- thrifty, yes...green, I think so. To save on energy I haven't used my heat or a/c in about 4 months, how many people can say that?? I usually use coldwater wash and do not run my dishwasher unless it's full. I recycle and I'm getting a water filter so no more bottle water for me AND that was on my to do list before yesterday, so take that Mother Earth!

Day 5

My husband, the neat freak, made this mess about 5 days ago while frantically looking for something in the trash. He thinks I should clean it up but there's no way...so the standoff is up to day 5 now. I hope this post will embarrass him enough to pick it up ; ) And by the way, the Easter decorations were packed up today! yeah me!

thought for the day...

What if success is just getting the clothes into the dryer before mildew sets in?

So, I'm not crazy

Last fall, maybe even August, I found some jeans that fit my daughter really well and I bought 2 pair - a light and a dark since they're 2 for $22 (you have to buy 2 to get the deal). Well, it was pretty warm and she didn't get to wear them right away so later on I'm looking for the dark pair and can't find them anywhere. Months pass and I think well, I must be crazy...I'm confused and I must have not gotten the dark pair after all. So I finally break down and buy a pair I found on sale at old navy that didn't fit as well but she needed jeans.
Fast forward to today and I'm going through her clothes to see what to pack, save, put in garage sale, etc. She sees this doll Nece (grandma) gave her she hasn't played with in awhile - it laughs and says mama which creeps me out- anyway, she wants it so I give it to her and lo and behold...what is underneath? The dark jeans from Children's place!! The sad thing is I gave up on myself too quick and assumed I was crazy instead of looking for them months ago when they still fit. Gotta learn to trust myself.

San Antonio

We went to San Antonio yesterday-saw the Alamo, had lunch on the riverwalk, took a river cruise and that's about all the kids could take but it was fun!

Target practice

We went to Wal-mart and I got the kids some water guns (they behaved very well!) that I call squirters or super soakers because I don't really encourage gun play. Anyway we get home and my son is excited to play and so he tells me "go, mommy, go...I want to bay at you". You're probably thinking what I was thinking...what the heck does that mean? And the answer is bay means shoot, but even after extensive questioning I still don't know why he calls it bay other than maybe he doesn't want to be corrected for shooting at people? So he says to me "mommy, go" as he's prodding me out onto the driveway "go...run, get your exercise" (that comes directly from his dad) "so I can bay at you...go". My son wants to use me as a human target!!??

2 things I learned...

First, baby hair does not french braid well even if she sits still. Second, trust your instincts. I got take out from a chicken place by our house even though I was afraid it wouldn't be as good as Golden Chick. I was right. And FYI - the Easter stuff is still up. I did laundry and took the kids for a wagon ride instead!

Thoughts for today

I have a confession...I think I'm an official Monk-o-phile (watching one now), which is sad but there hasn't been anything on television (besides American Idol) for awhile so I'm getting all caught up and looking forward to the new season in July. It's my naptime veg-out pleasure. Other thoughts for the day - I need to get off the computer and pack away my Easter decor. Yep, it's still up.

First Ever Post

I'm new to this. Not sure anyone cares what I have to say but I'll put it out there anyway. Actually, it's late so I'll get some sleep and save my thoughts for another day...
