The Verdict

After an entire winter with infected ears, Bowen will be going in next week to have tubes placed.
This is good news!
My baby will finally get some relief from the pain, and yucky antibiotics (and upset tummy that comes with them) and he can learn to walk...really walk, not the drunk stumbling he does now.

This is how tiny the solution is.
And what it will do for him...
allow the fluid to flow out instead of build up.
It doesn't mean he'll never get another infection, but it greatly reduces the likeliness.

So we can get on to better things, like planning his first birthday :)

Favorite Foto Friday

I just came across this "oldie" from June 2005, Ben was close to Bowen's age now...
wow, time flies!
Both so handsome, definitely one of my faves.

The Penguin

Oh, he looks cute & innocent....
but Bowen & I can assure you, he's a torture device.

He is Bowen's new nebulizer because on top of the latest ear infection, he also has RSV...my poor baby can't get a break :(

The 15 minute wrestling matches, I mean breathing treatments, are wearing us out!
Any tips/suggestions on how to make this easier?

Bowen -11 months

Bowen's new face and new talent
"Look, no hands"
What he's up to:
  • hugs
  • takes 1-3 steps at a time
  • gives high-fives & waves
  • says "dada" and "that"...still no mama :(
  • teething, currently working on some molars - ouch!
  • does pat-a-cake, claps and rolls on his own.
  • likes to splash...in. the. toilet. when he can find an open bathroom door
  • loves crackers, hates toast
  • still battling ear infections :(
  • already likes to climb, lucky me!
  • becoming a daddy's boy

Corona Ointment

A friend brought this diaper rash ointment to me the other day.

Indications: Original Lanolin-Rich Corona Ointment temporarily protects and helps relieve minor cuts, lacerations, scrapes, rope burns, wire cuts, harness and saddle sores.

Soothes chapped or sunburned muzzles, irritated udder or teats.

Yep- if it's good enough for livestock, it's good enough for Bowen!

Jar Jar Beans

Allow me to introduce...
Jar Jar Binks, Star Wars Episode I

It's been a rough day - I'm doling out so many meds that I've had to write them down to keep track. My only comic relief came when Ben was watching Star Wars and Brinley laughed and said "he must eat a lot of beans for his name to be Jar Jar Beans".

Bumpy Ride Girl

Tonight as I was reading Brinley her bedtime story, one of Ben's beginner reader Hot Wheels books (unfortunately I don't get to pick them) she pointed to this girl and said "that's you mommy".

Is this really how she sees me??? LOL

Cotton Bowl Classic

We scored some tickets to yesterday's Cotton Bowl...and it was sweet!
And by sweet, I mean suite...silver level, catered food, leather seats, private restroom.
Oh yeah, it's good to know people who know people, haha.
*I FORGOT MY CAMERA! forgive the phone camera shot*
Walking up to Cowboys Stadium Ben said "it's bigger than last time"...lol.

And I'm not sure if our "attendant" liked me or just thought I looked poor, because he gave me a whole set of these Cowboys glasses...either way, I gladly accepted :)
Highlights were (besides my new glasses) seeing Eli Young Band sing the national anthem, watching Dexter McCluster (aka Run DMC) and all the Ole Miss preppies (I never knew!) and the laugh I got when a fan text in "Tim Tebow has an Ole Miss snuggie" and it appeared on the jumbo screen.
