News to me

Brinley would not go to bed last night so she finally joined us in our bed (which I don't mind because she's small, and sleeps without kicking or moving much at all really) about 10pm and the 3 of us are laying there quietly and she says "turn on the news".

Well, we didn't but here's the news...

We enjoyed spending time with family over Thanksgiving but would you believe I don't have any pictures to share?
I went to see New Moon with my mom and am sooo looking forward to the next one that I might have to just read the book because I'm not sure I can wait 6 months for Eclipse.
I went to a Matilda Jane trunk show the other night, new to me & I loved it!!! The clothes are too cute for words.

Bryce is working away, pitching in a lot around the house and preparing for his Half Ironman Triathlon in April.

Ben is doing great - loving school, loving Star Wars...in fact, his bedroom is getting a Star Wars makeover this week. And..drum roll please....he no longer wears a pull-up at night, YAY! I've been looking forward to that for a couple of years but some things cannot be rushed and it was a decision he made all his own.

Brinley's rebellion/attachment phase is improving. She has even asked to go back to gymnastics but I think we'll wait a bit longer ;)

Bowen went in for his 9 month check up and we discovered 3 things: He hasn't gained much weight, he has shrunk (an obvious measuring error, grr) and he has a double ear infection!! I felt so bad - I didn't have a clue. I've never had a baby with an ear infection so I assumed they cried and screamed...turns out they don't. Apparently they eat & sleep like normal. News to me.

Bag Boy

Ben has a new little "habit", he collects things (legos, qtips, action figures, etc.) and puts them in a baggie/box of some sort to carry around with him.

At first I thought he had great organizational skills but now his collection has grown so much I'm becoming concerned...do I have a future bag lady, I mean boy, on my hands? LOL

This is just some of his stuff.
Deodorant anyone? Seriously, why does that need a bag?

It's been a couple of weeks already - he's using up all my baggies and I'm out of shoe boxes!
Can't wait to see how long this phase will last ;)

Bowen turns 9 months old

Nine months!
Wow.

I know I'm really getting away from the bear pictures BUT he looks so mature here, I can't get over it...and shh, you're getting a sneak peak at our Christmas card photo session site.

So here's what Bowen's up to:
  • his hair is curling up in back (so, so cute)
  • he will stand -on his own- for several seconds at a time.
  • still pulls up on any & every thing.
  • he is getting 3 new top teeth. right. now. as he sleeps
  • he makes a beeline crawling to daddy when he comes home from work.
  • enjoying 3rd foods and snacks - crackers, puffs, bananas, etc.
  • he plays a game where the kids "chase" him and he scrambles up to me laughing so hard!
Love it!
Such a doll.

My name is Brinley

My little girl, at 3 years & 7 months, learned to write her name:

Yes, I realize the "e" and "l" are transposed but she picked it up in a matter of minutes!!
and I think it's awesome.

Running on empty

Saturday promised to be a busy day, like most. We headed over to the soccer field for a 9am football team photo before our games scheduled for 10am and 12pm, and my family was coming up in time to watch Ben's 2nd game.

So, Bowen falls asleep and I leave the car running despite being low on gas....and we wait and wait. Then I get out to take some pictures and we wait some more and by the time I walk back to the car, Bryce says "don't bother getting in because we're out of gas".

Oops!
Crap!

So I grab my wallet and head to the gas station on the corner...
but just then my friend (there for her son's soccer game) pulls up!
Yay, so she takes me to get gas and we make it uptown in time for Ben's football game :)

And, it was the last week of the season....so indulge me a few pictures.

Running! Chasing down the flag...see how little he is?

I like this tough guy look.

We have a little break between games and my family shows up, we get a bite to eat and head back for the final game, then home....

Fast forward a few hours and we're heading to downtown OKC to take my niece out for her birthday. I'm getting on the highway and my car dies!!

UGHH...CRAP!

Guess how far 2 gallons of gas gets you?

NOT FAR.

I've only run out of gas one other time in my life and then twice in one day!!
Luckily my sister was following me in her car so we go get more gas (it took 2 trips to get enough to make my car start!) and head on to dinner at Toby Keith's.

The kids thought these "tailgates" were really cool so they hopped on and pretended to be going somewhere until Brinley said "sorry we can't go...we don't have gas"...LOL
I'm never going to live this down!!

But, all's well that ends well...

We returned home for cake & ice cream :)

Hope you had a great birthday, Alicea!
