Libertyfest

This year Bryce was on call, so we decided to do something different and actually stay home for a holiday. My sister came to visit but per her threats(!) she's not in any pictures.
Libertyfest is actually a week's worth of events but we just came out for Saturday's festivities, which started with a parade.
A long, sometimes boring, sometimes annoying, sometimes crazy, sometimes touching parade.
We grabbed some seats and watched!
The kids got a kick out of this.

This was just crazy...who straps them self to the top of an SUV?
And the Shriner's....
they had about 20 different groups- musicians, horseback riders, veterans, clowns, go carts, etc.
And at first they were funny but then it just became loud and annoying because they drove really close to the crowd.

But Bowen enjoyed himself anyway :)
I swear nothing can lift your heart like a baby's laughter!!

This was my favorite float.

I like the way Bo is giving the camera a big "hiyya" with his foot, lol.
After an early departure from the parade, we had lunch then got to go in the old schoolhouse.

"Ben and Brinley, go stand by the fence"...
Okay, whatever.

This is believed to be the first schoolhouse in Oklahoma, built in 1889 after the land run.
Brinley counting with the school teacher :)

We took a break and went home for naps and to wait for Daddy to get off work....then it was off to the park for bounce houses, free watermelon, hot dogs and fireworks.

My teething little boy.

But free watermelon was all we got before the storm hit.

It looks spooky but actually felt good - it cooled off nicely.
But we had to get dinner elsewhere and return later for the fireworks
and glow wands, of course!
It was the first show I've seen in 5 years (since Ben was born) and the first time we kept the kids up late to watch. But it was a spectacular show...voted one of the nation's top 10.

We had a fun Fourth and I hope ya'll did too!!

Fun! Those are some dark clouds! Glad it didn't ruin the fireworks!

I love Liberty Fest! Isn't that school house the coolest? Did you go to Taste of Edmond at all? Now that is a good time! :)
